Unit Five masthead

UNIT FIVE have played at major venues all over the south and also at top London hotels. We have backed or supported at shows and cabaret evenings starring such top names as Jim Davidson, the late Mike Reid, Hale & Pace, Jimmy Jones, Joe Brown, plus many other well-known names.

We also hold our own functions in the Medway area, at which we have raised many thousands of pounds for local and national charities.

Fronting the band is vocalist Dorian Gray, who had a 7-week chart success in 1968 with "I've Got You On My Mind" (click on the navigation link for the "Music" page to hear this tune). He made over 20 radio and TV appearances on Top of the Pops, the then popular Simon Dee Show and other shows. The hit was so appealing that it was covered shortly afterwards by the group "White Plains".

Sadly, John, lead guitarist since the formation of the band, has retired due to ill-health and Max has taken over as lead guitar.

Our professionalism, versatility, showmanship, stage presentation and harmonies make UNIT FIVE an ideal choice for any function, large or small. The latest sound amplification and musical instruments enhance our stage presentation.

If you live in London, Kent, Essex, Surrey, Sussex or anywhere in the Home Counties and want a band that is a refreshing change from other bands, why not book UNIT FIVE - the South East's Premier Function Band - for your next function, dinner dance, party, wedding reception, masonic evening, golf club function, cabaret backing, corporate evening or family event.

We know how important the right music is for your function and we play music for all age groups and make every effort to meet your needs. Whatever you choose, the music will be almost continuous with each song leading seamlessly into the next. We pride ourselves on being the best sounds around and we are sure you will agree.

As a recent feature, subject to the wishes of those who book us, we are splitting our repertoire into two halves, the first half being as 5 In The Bar and the second half as Unit Five.  This performance style has been widely enjoyed and is possibly unique.

UNIT FIVE have been together now for over 50 years. The line-up may have changed but the philosophy has always remained the same - to have people dancing on the floor and to play what audiences want.

Our varied programme of music covers ballroom, sing alongs, middle of the road, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s music and, of course, the current chart hits of today.

We also have tribute sets to Queen, The Beatles, Abba and the show-stopping Blues Brothers complete with dark glasses and black hats, which has the audience shouting for more.

We know how important the right music is and we make every effort to meet audience needs with a varied programme of music that suits every function no matter how large or small. Whatever music is chosen, it will be almost continuous with each song leading seamlessly into the next. You name it ... we play it.
